Stephen A. Zorn

Steve Zorn is the Managing Partner of Castle Village Farm, a group of thoroughbred racing partnerships, with more than 350 individual partners. Castle Village Farm was the leading owner at the 2006 Aqueduct spring race meet, and currently has about 20 horses in training, most of them New York-breds.

Steve has been on the NYTHA Board for five years, first as an alternate, and since 2005, as a full member. He has been principally involved in restructuring NYTHA's budget, so that the organization lives within its means and devotes the maximum possible percentage of its money to Backstretch benevolence programs, as well as in working on strategy for protecting horsemen’s interests in the NYRA bankruptcy proceedings.

Before joining Castle Village Farm, Steve was a Wall Street tax lawyer, law professor and United Nations technical adviser, specializing in international investment issues. He also served in the office of the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea and has been a labor union organizer and president. He has a B.A from the University of California at Berkeley, an M.A. from the University of Wisconsin, and a law degree from Fordham University. Steve is the author or co-author of three books and several dozen articles on international resource and investment issues and on tax questions.
