Kiaran McLaughlin
Kiaran attended University of Kentucky for one year and then entered racing full-time. He worked as an assistant trainer for D. Wayne Lukas, supervising the careers of a number of New York-based Eclipse Award winners. He worked with several other trainers including James Burchell, John Hennig (later to become his father-in-law), Dave Kassen and Tim Muckler.Kiaran also worked as a Jockey Agent for the late Chris Antley in 1992-93. He then went to Dubai to train for Sheikh Mohammed al Maktoum during that racing season, which runs from October through April, and returned annually until 2003. He now trains horses in New York for several Dubai-based clients and others. His brother Neal and Art Magnuson are his assistant trainers. Among his career highlights, Kiaran trained Invasor, 2006 Horse of the Year and Champion Older Horse. He also trained Jazil, the Belmont Stakes winner that same year. McLaughlin has won numerous New York and Graded Stakes races and recently conditioned Lahudood to victory in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf. Kiaran resides in Garden City with his wife Letty, daughter Erin and son Ryan. |
